Arden H. Blake, age 75 of LeMars, IA passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Mercy One Hospital in Sioux City, IA.
Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2021at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Pastor Will Dole will officiate. Visitation with family present will be 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, IA.
Arden was born on June 14, 1945 at Akron, IA, the son of Kenneth & Helen (Determann) Blake. He was raised and educated in Akron. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1962 and served until he was honorably discharged on July 19, 1968. He trucked for himself for many years. After that, he drove truck for Air Liquide and worked as a mechanic for Kenworth in Sioux City.
On April 23, 1999 he married Barbara Konz in Wisconsin. The couple made their home in Le Mars.
He loved motorcycles, watching the history channel, his grandchildren calling him to sneak in some ice cream and donuts. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, and can’t forget his two beloved dogs Charlie & Marley, that sat by his side.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of Le Mars; his daughter who meant the world to him, Monica (Chad) Gravenish of Remsen; 5 grandchildren, MacKenzie, AKA Marcene (Jesse) De Groot, Maci and Caleb Gravenish all of Remsen; and Austin and Kenneth. Daughters, Chris Blake and Nicole Blake. Son, Anthony Blake. 3 great-grandchildren, Hayden & Kasen De Groot both of Remsen; and Landon. Brothers, Wayne, (Ginny) Blake of Sioux Falls, SD, Mike (Carol) Blake of West Virginia; sisters, Carol (Bob) Pies of Akron, IA, Beth (Ed) Terpstra of Westfield, IA.
He was preceded by his parents, brothers-in-law, Claire, Melvin and David “George” Konz; two of his beloved dogs, Zeke & Sadie.
