Arnold Ott

Arnold Ott, 85 of Remsen, IA died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.       
       Funeral Service will be Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. from Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen, with Pastor Dennis Martens officiating.  Burial will be in the Remsen Community Cemetery.  Visitation will be anytime after 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013.  There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the church.  Visitation will resume Monday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church.  Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. 
        Arnold was born March 14, 1927 at home in Henry Township, IA, the son of John & Anna (Seggerman) Ott.  He was raised and educated in Henry Township in a rural school and also Union Consolidated School, graduating in 1944 with Salutatorian Honors.
        On Oct. 12, 1949 he married Colleen Nitzschke at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen.  The couple started farming in 1951.  Arnold lived on a farm all his life.  They retired and moved into Remsen in 1996.
        Arnold was a member of Christ Lutheran Church LCMS all his life and was baptized, confirmed and married by Rev. A. Noack.  He served on the Remsen School Board for 20 years.  He loved to do woodworking, fishing, spending time with family, going to church and singing praises to the Lord. 
        Survivors include: his wife, Colleen of Remsen; two sons, Allan (Pam) Ott of Remsen, Eugene (Stormy) Ott of Sioux City, IA; two daughters, Dianne (Ted) Rowan of Louisville, KY, LeAnn (Phil) Arens of LeMars, IA; 7 grandchildren, Amber, Tyler and Amanda Arens, Michael and Devon Rowan, Heather (Doug) Jansen, Nicole (Joe) Schmitt.; 3 great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Carson Arens, Sydney Jansen; One brother Curtis (Doris) Ott of Kingsley, IA; one brother-in-law, Marvin (Arline) Nitzschke of Remsen; two sisters-in-law, Victoria Ott of LeMars, IA, Carmen Pearlstein of Clovis, CA. Numerous nieces and nephews.
        Preceded by, his parents; one brother, Donald Ott, one grandson, Neal Ott.
        Casket Bearers will be his grandchildren.
         Honorary Bearers will be his great-grandchildren.
         In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Christ Lutheran Church LCMS of Remsen or the charity of your choice.
