Beverly Jane Hanno

August 5, 1948 — March 5, 2014

Beverly Jane (Minten) Hanno, 65 years old of rural LeMars, IA joined Jesus in heaven on March 5, 2014, after battling a form of brain cancer for nearly two years.

Bev’s Life will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2014, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Oyens with Rev. William McCarthy.  Burial will be in the St. Catherine Cemetery in Oyens.  Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.

Those that knew and loved Bev will long remember her famous smile.  She had a heart full of love and always had a kind and encouraging word.  Bev loved the Lord, and found ways to share Him in her kindness to those she came in contact with.  Her grandkids were deeply important to her and she spent countless hours with them.  (They were her hobby!)  As a loyal friend to many, she was known to say “call whenever you need to talk.”  Bev also remained active in the community and served on the LeMars Daycare Board, as well as the Northwest Iowa Community Empowerment Board.  Bev’s love for garage sales, Christmas and her unique ability to feed anyone who came on the yard are a part of her legacy.

Bev will be deeply missed by her husband of 45 years Lawrence, a son Eric Hanno of LeMars, IA, and his three children, Bailey, Stormii, and Logan; as well her daughter and son-in-law, Tom & Jen Sandbulte from Sioux Center, IA and their five children, Kendra, Matthew, Carter, Caleb and EmmaLee.

In addition to her immediate family, Bev leaves behind her siblings, Darrell & Marilyn Minten of Reno, NV, Sherron & Richard Kriege of Skiatook, OK, Ron & Joann Minten of Alton, IA, Barb & Mark Noteboom of Orange City, IA, Marilyn Nunn of Alton, IA, and Dawn & Dave Welch of North Sioux City, SD, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Awaiting Bev in heaven are her parents, Robert & Jackie Minten, a grandson, Taylor Hanno, Her in-laws, Ervin & Regina Hanno, and her sister-in-law, Barb Minten.

Bev was born to Robert and Jackie Minten on August 5, 1948.  She was raised near Alton, IA and attended school at Floyd Valley and church at St. Mary’s in Alton.  Upon completion of high school in 1966, Bev attended Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon and obtained a bookkeeping/secretarial degree.

She met Larry in 1966 while working at the movie theatre.  They married on July 5, 1968, while Larry was home on military leave.  Immediately after their wedding, they were stationed with the National Guard in Colorado Springs, CO.  After his term of service, Larry and Bev moved to Council Blufffs, IA and then to Atlantic, IA.  During this time Bev worked in several banks.  In 1971, they returned to Oyens, IA to enable Bev and Larry to work together on the Hanno family farm.  Bev and Larry resided in Oyens from 1971 to 1989 and then moved to the family farm.  Bev worked alongside Larry on the farm until 2002 when she decided to put her love of children and cooking to work and became a cook for LeMars Daycare.
