Carol was born on Thanksgiving Nov. 26, 1936 to Laurence and Martha (Galles) Shea and grew up on the family farm south of Remsen, IA.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen.

She married Clyde Schuttpelz Sept. 8, 1956, after graduating high school and traveled over to Schwaebisch Hall Germany to get married.  They lived there for a year and came home and farmed for forty years.  After they retired they moved to LeMars in 1997 to a very nice area in a cul-de-sac and liked living there. They adjusted to the difference in town and country living.  The important things in life to Carol were their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Both Clyde and Carol, simply enjoyed going for a nice drive looking around at crops.  Camping was enjoyable to both.  Carol had hobbies for awhile. She did a lot of ceramic painting, and making an assortment of cards, and different things and she was great at yodeling.  It was always fun for her to listen to the grandchildren as they got older just to hear what is going on in the world.  Smaller grandchildren were fun to watch as well and many times wished they had energy to keep up the pace that they had.

Carol was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus for many years until they moved to LeMars and joined St. James Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband Clyde of LeMars; their children, Janet (Tom) Wittkop of Marion, IA, Jeanie (Steve) Schroeder of Kingsley, IA, Patrick Schuttpelz of Remsen, IA, Paula (Bill) Davis of St. Joseph, MO; eleven grandchildren, Tim (Noelle) Wittkop, Brian (Catie) Wittkop, Brooke Wittkop, and Jill (Kyle) Reeve, Jenni (Travis) Todd, Chris, Dan and Stephanie Schroeder,  Joe (Ashley) Schuttpelz, Nicole and Kyle Klingensmith; eight great-grandchildren, Elijah Reeve,  Jackie, Austin and Jaycie Todd, Ty, Jaxon and Adelyn Schuttpelz, Caden Gregg; her brother, Paul (Shirley) Shea of Marcus, IA; her sister, Clara Kayser of LeMars; sister-in-law, Darlene Roberson of Summerville, SC; brother-in-law, Stan (Jan) Schuttpelz of Hobbs, NM; several nieces and nephews.
