Carol Jean Weber, age 80, of Remsen, IA passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA with Father William McCarthy officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen, IA.  Visitation with family present will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday.  There will be a parish rosary and a vigil prayer service all at 7 p.m. at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.  Visitation will resume 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. 

Carol was born November 20, 1938 to John & Toni (Ludwig) Ruden in Remsen, IA. She was raised on a farm near Remsen and received her education from Remsen St. Mary’s graduating high school in 1957.

On June 6, 1960 she married Richard “Dick” Weber at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen.  The couple made their home in Columbus Georgia until 1961 when they moved to Remsen.  Carol was a stay at home mother while her children were young.  She did work as a waitress at the Golden Pheasant and tended bar at Web’s Lounge.  Carol worked 24 years at Floyd Valley Hospital as a dietary cook.  Carol then worked in Remsen cooking and serving Meals On Wheels.  She also helped her daughter Cami at CJ’s Drive Inn many years. Dick passed away Jan. 17, 2001.  When Carol’s health began to fail her daughters cared for her in her own home until moving into Happy Siesta in April 2018.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Throughout the years Carol has really enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She loved cooking and was always the best salad maker.  She also loved BINGO.

Survivors include her three children, Christi (Terry) Hoffman, Carla (David) Smith both of Remsen and Rick (Lisa) Weber of Alton, IA; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren with 2 more arriving soon; 1 sister, Marilyn Reese of Newton, IA; 4 brothers, Larry Ruden of Remsen, David (Ann) Ruden of Orange City, IA, Mike Ruden of Remsen, Mark (Susie) Ruden of Le Mars, IA; 1 sister-in-law, Ann Ruden of Des Moines, IA.

She was preceded in death by, her parents, her husband, her daughter Cami Hoffman, 2 grandchildren in infancy, Angel and Kyle Hoffman, 1 brother, Dale Ruden, 1 sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Ruden, 1 brother-in-law, Harold Reese.

Casket bearers will be Andy Hoffman, Alex Hoffman, Corey Hoffman, Travis Weber, Regi Arens, Scott Ruden and Steve Ruden.
