Clara was born February 9,1927, in Fleming, CO.  She was the daughter of Anton & Stefany (Tepley) Brekel.  She graduated from St. Peter’s High School (the only member of her class).
On May 14, 1946, she married Arnold Hoefler, to whom she was married 62 years.  Together, they had two sons, Jim & Fr. Bob.  They lived in Granville from 1946 on, first in town (no running water), then on the farm east of town (with running water), and finally in town again after retirement.  She moved to Little Flower Haven in Earling, IA, in April, 2008.  She remained there until her death.  Arnold died May 31, 2008.
During her time in Granville Clara was an active member in the community, St. Joseph Catholic Church & church guild.  The love of her life was making music.  For 40 years, she was the organist at St. Joseph Church.  She loved to provide background music at the parish’s annual turkey suppers.  She loved to lead musical sing-alongs at area bars.  She helped out on the farm, but left most of that work to her husband, although she would help bring in the crop at harvest time.  She took care of the house and garden.  Although a native of Colorado, she came to love her new community through her active involvement.  The pinochle card club lasted for many years.
Survivors include her son Fr. Bob of West Des Moines, her daughter-in-law Sharon of Jasper, AL, & nieces & nephews scattered throughout the U.S.
Preceded in death by her parents, her son Jim, her sisters Anna, Elizabeth, Martha & Sister Lucilla, her brother Joe & Louise.
