Dale Jerome Bunkers

September 26, 1958 — March 5, 2016

Dale Jerome Bunkers age 57 of Lenexa, KS and formerly of Granville, IA passed away on Saturday, March 5th from heart disease.  



Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Granville.  Visitation with family present will be Friday May 20, 2016 after 4 p.m., there will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the church.  Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen, IA.
Dale was born September 26, 1958 in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Jerome & Verna (Klein) Bunkers.  He grew up in Granville.    Dale was a graduate of Spalding Catholic.  He received his Bachelor Degree from Arizona State University.  He lived in the Phoenix area for a number of years where he was employed in the aerospace industry. Upon moving to Lenexa he worked in the aerospace industry.  Most recently he was employed in the animal health industry.   

Dale for a number of years volunteered at the Humane Society of Kansas City, Kansas.  He spent many weekends with the pet adoption at the Petsmart in Lenexa.  He also volunteered at the annual fundraising telethon.  He told his siblings the most fun he had with the Humane Society was at Christmas time when he dressed up as Santa Claus and any family which adopted a pet was able to get a picture of the pet and the owners taken with him.  Being on the thin side, he had a number of pillows to complement the outfit.

Dale was a NASCAR fan.  He also closely followed the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs.  He also loved to collect antiques.  

Dale is survived by his mother Verna Bunkers (Klein) who resides at Bavarian Meadows Assisted Living in Remsen, sister Suzanne Bunkers of Mankato, MN, sister Linda Kennedy (husband Dan) of Clear Lake, IA, brother Dennis Bunkers (wife Barb) of Spokane, WA and brother Dan Bunkers (wife Julie) of Goodyear, AZ.  He was preceded in death by the passing of his father Jerome (Tony) Bunkers.  Dale is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  His best friends were Ray and Sandy Walker or Edwardsville, KS.  Dale adopted his cats Iggy and Isaac many years ago from the Humane Society.
