Darlene Douvia, 83 years old, of Remsen, IA, died Thursday, January 19, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, IA.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday Jan. 24, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Father William McCarthy officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation with family present will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, there will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen. Condolences may be sent online to www.fischfh.com.

Darlene was born Aug. 10, 1933 to Earl and Celia (Dickmann) Hanno at Remsen, IA. She was raised and educated in Remsen and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, graduating in 1951.

On Oct. 30. 1954 she married Dwayne Douvia at Remsen. The couple made there home in Remsen. Darlene enjoyed working with her Flowers and cooking.  She loved spending
time with her grandchildren.  She enjoyed playing cards with the
neighborhood club ladies

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Dwayne of Remsen; three children;
Daughter, Diane (Steve) Porr of Omaha NE; sons, Dean (Kellie) Douvia, and Darrell (Deanna) Douvia, both of Remsen; grandchildren Trish (Nick) Harms, Tyler (Rachel) Douvia, Travis (Lexi) Douvia, Anna Douvia, Katie Douvia, Alex Porr, Joshua (Courtney) Hill, Joseph (Ashley) Schuttpelz; 10 great grandchildren; her brother Jim (Ruth) Hanno of Sanborn and sister
Donna Faye (Eugene) Moran of LeMars; sister-in-Law, Jeanine (Ralph) Veach
Of Derby, KS.

Darlene was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and church guild.
Preceded by: parents, her in-laws, Elmer and Caroline Douvia, her sister Phylis Wendt, brother-in-law, Fran Wendt, two sisters-in-law, Lois Hanno and Donna Hey.

Casket bearers will be Trish Harms, Tyler, Travis, Anna and Katie Douvia, Alex Porr.

Honorary bearers will be Josh & Courtney Hill, Joe and Ashley Schuttpelz.

Special honorary bearers will be her card club group, Ginger Bunkers, Phyllis Wolf, Esther Bunkers, Betty Wittkop and Kay Augustine.
