Debra Kay DeBoer

August 12, 1957 — October 28, 2021

Debra Kay (Kelley) DeBoer, 64 of Remsen, Iowa passed away on October 28, 2021 peacefully after a long battle with cancer at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.  

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov 2, 2021 at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen, with Pastor Garret Kasper officiating.  Private burial will be at the Remsen Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation with family present will be Monday from 5-7p.m., there will be a prayer service at 6 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.  Visitation will resume 1 hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday at the church.  In lieu of flowers please send donations to the family for a memorial to be decided. Debra was born Aug. 12, 1957 at LeMars, IA the daughter of Patrick & LaVonne (Schuchard) Kelley.  She was raised and educated in Remsen and graduated from Remsen Union High School in 1975.  

Debra was married to Timothy Jerrold DeBoer Sr. from 1978 to 2005 and they had 2 children Sarah Beth and Timothy Patrick. Deb worked at Remsen Apparel for many years and finished out her life working at Happy Siesta Nursing Home in housekeeping and laundry. She loved Happy Siesta and all of the residents put a smile on her face daily.  

Debra loved her Iowa Hawkeyes and watch every basketball and football game that was on! At Christmas time she loved baking and making Christmas candy with her granddaughters.  She also enjoyed watching Jeopardy, playing cards, watching Dr. Charles Stanley on Sunday mornings.  She also loved spending time with her family, especially her outings with her sisters and enjoyed having Lally’s for lunch on Thursdays with her sister Bev. 

Survivors include her daughter, Sarah DeBoer and special friend Joe Galles of LeMars, IA; her son, Timmy DeBoer of Sioux City, IA; 6 grandchildren, Bailey, Hunter, Madison, Jaylynn, Merritt and AuHbrey; 1 great-granddaughter, Alea; 2 step-daughters, Mindy Kjar of Sergeant Bluff, IA and Heather Hinkel of LeMars, IA; two brothers, Pat Kelley of Kingsland, TX, Steve Kelley of Le Mars, IA; four sisters, Bev (Brad) Kuiken of Le Mars, IA, Kathy Kelley of Remsen, Karen Miller and Jamie Kelley both of Le Mars, IA; one sister-in-law, Donna Kelley of Remsen, IA; numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded by, her parents, Patrick & LaVonne Kelley; one daughter Karissa Rigsby; her brothers, Mike and Tim Kelley. 

Casket bearers will be Timmy DeBoer, Joe Galles, Matt Kelley, Collin Becker, Nate Corbin and Landon Watterson.
