Dennis B. Krogman

November 16, 1927 — May 4, 2015

Dennis B. Krogman, 87 of Hospers, IA and formerly of Ashton, IA passed away Monday, May 4, 2015 at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon, IA.
           
Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton, IA with Rev. Tim Hogan officiating and Rev. Alan Reicks concelebrating.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ashton, IA. Graveside Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 290 of Ashton.  Visitation will be Wednesday May 6, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. with family present.  There will be a Knights of Columbus rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton.  Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen.

           
Dennis was born Nov. 16, 1927, at rural Ashton, IA the son of John & Rose (Meinen) Krogman.  He was raised in Ashton and attended St. Joseph School.  He farmed with his dad after school.  On April 23, 1946 he entered the U.S. Army and served during WWII until April 29, 1947.   


           
He married Shirley Wimmer on Oct. 10, 1950.  The couple resided in Ashton until 2009.  During this time he owned and operated a feed grinder and hauled can milk for Sanborn Creamery.  He then farmed until he retired.   


          
Dennis was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton, Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post 290.  His favorites things to do were playing pool, going fishing, bowling, going to the casino and spending time with family and friends.


            
Survivors include; his wife of 64 years, Shirley of Hospers, IA; seven children, Ronald (Tammy) Krogman of Germantown, IA, Larry Krogman of Ashton, IA, Sharon Krogman of Sheldon, IA, Carol (Terry) Jungers of Hospers, IA, Wayne (Jeanne) Krogman of Sibley, IA, Charlotte Roos of Hospers, IA, Darla (Wayne) Strampe of Germantown, IA; one son-in-law, Alan Kreber of Granville, IA; one sister, Mary Jean Dutler of Sioux City, IA; 24 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild.


Preceded by: his parents, four children, Glen, Linda and Lane in infancy and Donna Kreber, his grandson Cody Krogman, granddaughter-in-law, Heather Krogman, son-in-law, Dennis Roos, his twin brother, Dale Krogman, brother-in-law, Ilo Dutler.


Casket Bearers will be Shelly Mortenson, Kevin Krogman, Alan Jungers, Chad Krogman, Amber Hohbach, Renae Reekers, Adam Kreber, Wade Krogman.


Honorary Bearers will be Nick and Philip Krogman, Janette Schiphoff, Heath, Brennon and Zachery Krogman, Amy Jager, Dale Jungers, Becky Monroe, Krissa Paulsen, Steven Krogman, Sheila Vollink, Rachael Ginger, Denny Roos, Angie Plagge.
