Donna R. Horkey, 63 of Granville, IA passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016 at Orange City Area Health System in Orange City, IA.
Funeral Service will be Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, IA with Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Granville, IA. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville. Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen.
Donna was born Aug. 5, 1952, at LeMars, IA the daughter of Clark and Rita (Schladweiler) Cook. She was raised in Pipestone, MN and later moved with her family to Great Bend, KS and Cherokee, IA. She graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School in LeMars in 1971. She graduated from Iowa Community College in Sheldon, IA in 1973. She began work at the Family Eye Care Center in Sheldon, IA.
She married the love of her life Daniel Horkey on Aug. 2, 1974 at Granville, IA. The twins, Dana and Laura were born in Dec. 1975. They moved to the farm where they currently reside in the spring of 1976. Their third daughter, Gina was born in Oct. 1978. She has been currently working at Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar for the last 15 years.
Donna lived a full life and enjoyed camping, fishing and visits to Des Moines to see all of her grandchildren. While her loss is sudden and she will be greatly missed by so many, we find peace knowing she is resting in eternal peace with the Lord Our Savior.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Chruch and church guild. Donna was the loving grandmother of seven grandchildren.
Survivors include; her husband, Daniel of Granville, IA, three daughters, Dana (Kory) Riley of Des Moines, IA, Laura (Mike) Martin of West Des Moines, IA, Gina Davis of Ankeny, IA; seven grandchildren, Andrew, William and Joseph Riley, Jacob and Hannah Martin, Lila and Audrey Davis; her mother, Rita Cook of Remsen, one Brother, Rodney (Margaret) Cook of Murray, KY, one sister, Charlotte (Dennis) Braun of Remsen, Joyce (Morris) Stukey of Great Bend, KS; her mother-in-law, Caroline Horkey of Remsen; one brother-in-law, Wayne (Jane) Horkey of Granville, IA. Several nieces and nephews.
Preceded by: her father Clark Cook.
Casket Bearers will be Mike Horkey, Kelli, Chad and Shane Bork, Paul Braun and Ryan Cook.
