Duwayne Bob Meneely
DuWayne “Bob” Meneely, 88 years old, of Remsen, IA died Wednesday Dec. 23, 2014 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Visitation will after 1p.m on Friday at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Bob was born on Feb. 21, 1926, at Alcester, SD the son of Joseph and Grace (Briggs) Meneely. Bob was raised in Alcester and graduated from Alcester High School in 1944. He then served two years in the US Navy. He then attended Arizona State and then Morningside College, graduating with a degree in business education. Bob received his masters degree in Business Administration through the University of South Dakota. He became Superintendent of the Remsen School District and later of the Remsen-Union School District.
On Dec. 27, 1952, he married Muriel Frericks at St. Mary’s Church in Remsen. The couple lived in Remsen where they raised 5 children.
Bob was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. V.F.W. Post 3328 of Remsen.
Survivors include: his wife Muriel of Remsen; five children, Steve Meneely, Kimberly Levin both of Half Moon Bay, CA, Knute (Kaye Marie) Meneely of Jackson, MN, Jodi (Paul) Klein of Dunlap, IA, Judd (Barb) Meneely of Atlantic, IA; seven grandchildren; Sophia Meneely, Anna Maria Meneely, Carter, Christian and Kathryn Klein, Chet and Blake Meneely, one sister-in-laws, Shirley Scholar of Algona, IA; one brother-in-law, Rich (Margie) Frericks of Remsen, IA.
Preceded in death by, his parents.
