Ella Marie Gnewuch-Bahmer

July 7, 1939 — June 4, 2016

Ella Marie Gnewuch-Bahmer, 76 years old, of Moville, IA, and formerly of Alton, IA, died Saturday, June 4, 2016 at her home in Moville.

 
Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Alton.  Visitation with family present will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2016.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m.  Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen.

             
Ella was born July 21, 1939, at LaMore, ND, the daughter of Leo and Ludwina (Geffre) Dunn. She was raised and educated in the Ellendale, ND area. On Sept. 23, 1957 she married William Gnewuch at Verona, ND. They lived in Wyoming until 1959 when they moved to Sioux City, IA, and in 1970 they moved to Alton, IA. William died Sept. 28, 1994. Ella moved to Moville, IA in June 1997. On Oct. 18, 1997 she married Joseph Allan Bahmer at Moville where they made their home. In 1999 they moved to Harlingen, TX. Joseph Allen died July 13, 2007 and shortly thereafter Ella moved back to Moville.

 
Ella was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Alton and most recently, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville and was active in her church and a member of the church Guild. She worked at the Senior Center and enjoyed baking and playing cards.

 
Survivors include: 3) Sons,  Thomas and his wife Donna Gnewuch, Richard Gnewuch and     Kevin Gnewuch all of Blaine, WA; 1)Son-in-law, Kenneth Vlietstra of Orange City, IA; 2)Stepsons, Randy Bahmer and his wife Terry, Rollie Bahmer and wife; 1)Stepdaughter, Wendy Whetstine and husband Ron; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; 6)Sisters, Eva and her husband John Myers of Elk Point, SD, Louise and her husband Francis Lux of Craig, CO,  Regina Coleman of Oakes, ND, Darlene Yockey of Moville, IA, Julie Sadler of Copperas Cove, TX, Mary and her husband John Castro of Hanford, CA; 6)Brothers, Paul and his wife Caroline Dunn and Francis and his wife Colleen Dunn all of Sioux City, IA,  Bruce Dunn and  Charles and his wife Michelle Dunn all of Mason City, IA, Anthony Dunn and his wife Sherry of Pueblo, CO, Arthur Dunn of Bismark, ND; Numerous nieces and nephews.

      
Preceded by: her parents; 1) Daughter, Maryanne Vlietstra; 2)Brothers, Alois and Leonard Dunn; 3)Brothers-in-law, Merwin Brown, Gerald Coleman and Phil Yockey.
