Elmer Neuenschwander

January 24, 1918 — February 10, 2013

Elmer Neuenschwander, 95 years old, of Remsen, IA passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars, IA.
        Memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen, with Pastor Pete Petersen officiating.  Burial will be in the Remsen Community Cemetery in Remsen.  Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time on Friday at the church. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
        Elmer was born on Jan. 24, 1918, the son of Fred & Elisia (Jordt) Neuenschwander at rural Remsen, IA.  He was raised and educated in the Remsen area.  Elmer served 3 years in the U.S. Army serving during WWII in the South Pacific.  After the service he returned to the Remsen area and began farming on south of Remsen.
        In Jan. 1946 he married Maxine Schulte at Remsen.  The couple continued farming.  They retired and moved into Remsen in 1976.  He then helped part time at Muller’s Furniture in Remsen.  Maxine died Jan. 15, 1989.
        Survivors include: his daughter, JoAnn Easton of Remsen; grandson, Aaron (Becky) Easton of Remsen and their children, Charles and Katrina, granddaughter, Lynn (Weston) Dittmer of Shelby, IA and their daughter, Reese; one brother, Glen (Loretta) Neuenschwander of Yakima, WA; one sister-in-law, Mary Neuenschwander of Scottsdale, AZ.
        Preceded in death by, his parents, one son, Charles as a young child, his three brothers, Erwin, Arthur and Robert Neuenschwander, two sisters, Dorothy Mohning and Marie VanWechel.
