Francis Fritz Wurth

Francis "Fritz" Wurth, 71 years old, of Marcus, IA, died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Unity Point Health St. Luke’s in Sioux City, IA.   

          Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2014, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus with Rev. Dan Guenther. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus.  Visitation will be any time after 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014, with the family present from 2 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m.  There will be a rosary at 3 p.m and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m.  Visitation will resume Monday from 9 a.m. until service time all at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus.

          Francis was born Nov. 23, 1942, at Sacred Heart Hospital in LeMars, IA, the son of Lawrence & Clarinda (Krier) Wurth.  He was raised and educated in the Marcus area and attended Holy Name School graduated in 1961.  He then farmed with his father south of Marcus.  

          On Dec. 26, 1970 he married Patricia Freking at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Oyens, IA.  The couple made their home on the farm south of Marcus.  He also worked for Bunkers Feed and Supply in Granville and the Marcus Co-op.

          Francis was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, past 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed bowling, reading, playing cards, watching western movies and he also loved potato salad.  He was a loving husband and father and was very proud of his grandchildren.

          Survivors include: his wife Pat of Marcus; one son Christopher (Courteney) Wurth of Branson, MO; one daughter, Laura (Steve) Hunter of LeMars, IA; three grandchildren, Mitchell, Abbie and Wyatt; two step grandchildren, Lizzy and Evie; three brothers, Milton Wurth, Joe (Peg) Wurth, Larry (Jean) Wurth all of Marcus; one sister, Mary (Larry) Leonard of Kansas City, KS; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Wurth of Platteville, WI and Colleen Ortmann of Windom, MN; three brothers-in-law, Larry (Karolyn) Freking of LeMars, Don (Carol) Freking of Topeka, KS, Jim (Sally) Freking of LeMars;

          Preceded by: his parents; one brother, Marvin, two sisters-in-law, Barb Wurth and Vicki Freking, one brother-in-law, Dick Ortmann.

          Casket bearers: Andy, Kenny and Myles Wurth, Dan Ortmann, Rich and Bill Freking.
