    Herman E. Kluver, 84 of Remsen, IA died Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA..
     Funeral Service will be Friday, June 25, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen, with Rev. Dennis Martens officiating.  Burial will be in the Remsen Community Cemetery.  Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010.  There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. all at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen.  Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen.
     Herman was born July 6, 1925 on a farm south of Remsen, IA, the son of Dick & Anna (Koch) Kluver.  He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on Sept. 20, 1925.  He attended rural country school thru the eighth grade, and then attended and graduated from Union Township Consolidated School in 1942.  He was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen in March 1940.  In high school he participated in playing basketball and singing in chorus & boys chorus.  He helped out on the family farm and on other farms.  He was drafted into the US Army, serving from May 1945 to March 1946.
      On Nov. 18, 1947 he married Della Sonnichsen at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen.  The couple lived on a farm in the Remsen & Kingsley area, and were blessed with six children.   In 1968 they moved to the Kluver family farm where he was born.  He raised and sold purebread hogs. 
       Herman was a member of Christ Lutheran Church LCMS, and held several offices including Elder & chairman.  He was a member of the Luxembourg Brotherhood.  He was also on the Remsen Community Cemetery Board.  He was a member of Plymouth County Farm Bureau serving as Vice President, President & Voting Delegate, also served on Plymouth County Zoning Board, member of the Remsen Lions, and was a board member & officer of the Pork Producers Organization.  He was also a 60 year member of the American Legion.  In 1982 he was elected to the Plymouth County Board of Supervisors serving until 1994.  He also served on the SIMPCO and on the Iowa State Human Services Board.  He was also active with assisting his children in 4H.  He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing and music.  He especially enjoyed going to Branson, MO for the music shows.
        Survivors include: his wife of 62 years, Della of Remsen; Son Ronald Kluver & his wife Jacqueline of Papillion, NE, son Dennis Kluver & his wife Mary Jo of Sioux City, IA, daughter Dianna Kluver & her significant other Spencer Brown of Paradise Valley, AZ, daughter Bonita Dunkelberger & her husband Rocky of Council Bluffs, IA, son Jim Kluver of Sioux Falls, SD;  Seven grandchildren; Four great-grandchildren; Two step great-grandchildren.  One, brother-in-law, Leonard Sonnichsen & his wife Nancy of LeMars.  Several nieces & nephews.
        Preceded by, his parents, one daughter Lynette Kluver, two brothers, Edmund & Marvin Kluver, two sisters, Meta Moser & her husband Hugh, Alma Stabe & her husband Ruben, His father & mother-in-law, Hans & Anna Sonnichsen.
        Casket Bearers will be, Jason Kluver, Dylan Dunkelberger, Jason Baumeister, David Sonnichsen, Mike Sparr & Dennis Kroeger.
