Irene Ortmann

Irene
Ortmann, 83 years
old, of Remsen, IA,
passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013 at her home in Remsen, IA.
            Funeral service will be at 10:30
a.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with
Rev. William McCarthy and Deacon Rick Roder officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Remsen.  Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on
Friday, Dec. 13, 2013.  There will be a
parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the Fisch
Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen,
IA.
            Irene was
born Feb. 20, 1930, at LeMars,
IA, the daughter of Joseph and
Amelia (Rodenbour) Plendl.  She was
raised and educated in the Alton
area and graduated from St. Mary’s School in 1947. 
            On Feb. 20,
1950 she married Roman Ortmann at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, IA.  They lived near Alton for one year then moved to the Remsen
area.  She worked at Wayne’s Clover Farm
and Remsen Pharmacy.  The couple moved
into Remsen in 1957. Roman passed away April 23, 2007.
        Irene was a
member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and church Guild.

        Irene is survived by her seven
children, Randy (Connie) Ortmann of Remsen, Steve (Viveca) Ortmann of Manhattan,
KS, Terri (Steve) Garvin of Remsen, Janet Ortmann of Sioux Falls, SD, Sherri
(Terry) Truex of Sioux Falls, SD, Mary (Mark) Lubben of LeMars, IA, Doug
(Nancy) Ortmann of Sioux Falls, SD; one son-in-law, Joe Bates of Oskaloosa, IA;
15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edmund Plendl of Orange
City, IA.

        Preceeded by: her parents, daughter, Carol Bates;
sister, Marcella Lampert; brother, LeRoy Plendl
