James Gunningham

James Gunningham, 93 years old, of Remsen, IA passed away Wed., Aug. 21, 2013, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, IA.
As per his wishes there will be a private graveside service at a later date.
James was born on Sept. 17, 1919, the son of John and Mary (Weber) Gunningham at Victoria, Canada. As a young child he moved with his family to California where he was raised and educated. He then entered the US Air Force and served from 1941 until 1961 and obtained the rank of Master Sergeant.
In 1942 he married Dorothy Sedwig. While in the military they lived in numerous places. After his discharge from the Air Force they moved to Rancho Cordova, CA. They later moved to Jamestown, CA. Dorothy passed away March 28, 2002. James then moved to Remsen in 2004. He had been a resident of Happy Siesta Health Care Center since Aug. 1, 2013.
James was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include: his three children, Donald Gunningham of Jesup, IA, Jerry Gunningham of Magalia, CA, Suzie (Dan) Gengler of Remsen, IA; nine grandchildren.
Preceded in death by, his parents, one son, John Gunningham, three brothers, Bert, Jack and Art Gunningham, two sisters, Ethel and Mae.
