Kay Von Arb

Kay Von Arb, 70 years old, of Alton, IA, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, after a courageous fourteen-month battle with cancer at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.         Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Rev. Paul Eisele officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alton.  Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2011.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m., and vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.  Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.        Kay was born Oct. 3, 1940, at Alton, IA, the daughter of Robert & Marian (Konz) Kinney.  She was raised and educated in the Alton area graduating from St. Mary’s Academy in Alton in 1958.  After school Kay did domestic work in the Alton area.        On May 7, 1960 she married Orville Von Arb at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, IA.  The couple made their home near Alton where they began farming. She was a homemaker and in June 1990 she began working at MOC-Floyd Valley School for the lunch program until she retired in 2004.        Kay was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, church guild & rosary society.  Kay enjoyed reading, attending grandchildren’s sports events & traveling to visit family.         Survivors include: Her husband Orville of Alton; Six children, John & his wife Kathy of Nashville, TN, Larry & his wife Karla of Lisle, IL, Jim & his wife Jeanne of Huxley, IA, Patti Weidman & her husband Randy of Kansas City, MO, Cathy Van Es & her husband Galen of Orange City, IA, Chris & his wife Megan of St. Louis, MO;  Fourteen Grandchildren; Three Great-grandchildren; Three brothers, Bob Kinney & his wife Sherry of Alton, Mike Kinney & his wife Jeannette of LeMars, IA, Jerry Kinney of Alton; One sister, Donna Miranda & her husband Ernesto of Alton; Three brothers-in-law, Paul Von Arb & his wife Pauline of Granville, IA, Ron Von Arb & his wife Sondra of Owatonna, MN; Robert Von Arb & his wife Glenda of Alton, Eleven sisters-in-law, Charmaine List & her husband Ray of Granville, IA, Patricia Jungers of Hospers, IA, Margie Klein of Ashton, IA, Carolyn Langenfeld & her husband Vern of St. Louis, MO, Arlene Schoo & her husband Leon of St. Joseph, IA, Bev Delperdang & her husband Don of Remsen, IA, Clarissa Doggart of Alaska, Ione Nabor & her husband Harold of Granville, IA, Judy Mousel & her husband Frank of Dyersville, IA, Mary Ann Mousel of LeMars, IA, Charlotte Von Arb of Spring, TX.        Preceded by: her parents; One sister, Darlene Kobes & her husband Ed; Her father & mother-in-law, Paul & Barbara Von Arb; Five brothers-in-law, Melvin Von Arb & his wife Lillian, Everett Von Arb, Bernard Jungers, Leo Klein & Bill Lanzendorf.        Casket Bearers will be her grandchildren.
