Kristine “Kris” Ann Redhouse, 54, of Remsen, IA, formerly of Pipestone, MN, unexpectedly passed away April 28, 2017 peacefully in her home after her long battle with ill –health. She is free now.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m., Friday, May 5, 2017, at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery in Pipestone, MN. Visitation with family present will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, IA. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Hartquist Funeral Home in Pipestone, MN is assisting the family with arrangements in Pipestone.
Kris was born on February 1, 1963 in Sheldon, IA to Kenneth Paul and Judy (Juhl) Plank. She was baptized at the First Methodist Church in Sheldon on April 7, 1963.
Kris did not formally receive her high school diploma until June 1993 from the Pipestone High School. She attended Southwestern Technical Institute (Minnesota West) in Pipestone where she earned her cosmetology license. Kris worked various jobs, including ten years at Fey’s Industries in Edgerton, MN, until her health began to fail.
Kris gave birth to Nicholas Christopher Plank on February 8, 1981, and to Lacey Lynn Plank-Gaustad (Overman) on September 18, 1989.
Kris fought addiction for many years, but was looking forward to 6 years of sobriety from alcohol on May 5, 2017. At that time 6 years ago, she made a happy decision to join the St. Leo’s Catholic church in Pipestone.
Kris enjoyed watching the Animal Planet, and she supported the ASPCA. She loved visiting the Grotto at West Bend, Trinity Heights in Sioux City and the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls. Her first love was her children and grandchildren and the time she could spend with. Kris’s door was always open to those in need. In her younger years she loved writing (especially poems) and was always wanting to read to it an open ear.
Kris donated her hair to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation, and any memorials will be donated to them.
Kris is survived by her mom and dad, Kenneth Paul and Judy Plank of Remsen. Her two children, Nick Plank and fiancé Jennifer Adolph of Ivanhoe, MN, Lacey Overman and husband Brian of Hull, IA, and their children, Kris’s two grandchildren, Boston and Pierce, plus a brother, Kipp Plank of Sioux City, niece Athena Plank and nephew Rick Plank and special friend Ashlyn Peck all of Sioux City. Also many other aunts, uncles, cousins, loved ones and friends.
Casket Bearers will be Rick, Kipp and Nick Plank, Lacey Overman, Mark and Dale Juhl.
