Malcolm F. Klein, 68 years old, of Remsen, IA died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at his home in Remsen, IA.  
        Services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, with Rev. William McCarthy officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen.  Graveside Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 3328 & American Legion Post 220 of Remsen. Visitation will be anytime after 9 a.m. until service time on Thursday at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.  There will also be a memorial mass for Malcolm at St. Catherine’s Church in Oyens on Friday at 1:30 p.m. followed by a luncheon at St. Mary’s High School Cafeteria in Remsen.
        Malcolm was born on June 15, 1943, the son of Elmer Sr. & Melinda (Plathe) Klein.  Malcolm was one of 16 children.  He was raised and educated in Remsen.  He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Remsen.  He then entered the US Army on Aug. 26, 1963 and served until 1965 then was transferred to the US Army Reserve and served until Aug. 25, 1969 when he was honorably discharged. 
        On May 11, 1968, he married Cathleen Reuter at Remsen.  Malcolm worked in the family business, Klein Shelling & Trucking.  He then moved to San Jose, CA and worked at Ford Motor Company as a welder.
        Survivors include: his two daughters, Tamie Britt, and her children Nicholle, Aaron & Anna all of LeMars, IA, Lisa (Mark) Harpenau, and their children, Henri, Seth & Olivia all of Ankeny, IA; seven sisters, Carol (Don) Ruba of Remsen, Nancy (Rick) Loehr of Enid, OK, Suzie (Al) Vaske of Remsen, Elaine (Fred) Jungers of Sheldon, IA, Marlys Ohlendorf of Remsen, Marilyn Treinen of Remsen, Norma Klein of Stafford, TX; two brothers, Alan (Lorelie) Klein & Chuck (Joan) Klein both of Remsen; two sisters-in-law, Jan Klein & Marlene Klein both of Remsen.
        Preceded in death by, his parents, two sisters, Mavis Kunkel & Alice Klein; four brothers, Elmer Jr., Dennis, Don & Tom Klein; two brothers-in-law, Don Kunkel & Fred Treinen.
        Casket bearers will be Aaron Britt, Chad & Ryan Ohlendorf, Glen Kunkel, Ken & Ben Klein.
        Honorary Bearers will be, Kevin Mouser, Max Trienen, Dave Poeckes & Mike Klein.
