Marcella C. Niehus

Marcella “Sally” Niehus, 89 years old, of Remsen, IA died Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Good Samaritan Society in LeMars, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating and Deacon Rick Roder assisting. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m., and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a Catholic Order of Foresters Rosary all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Marcella was born on Oct. 7, 1925, at LeMars, IA the daughter of Peter & Mary (Masuen) Reichling. She was raised and educated in the LeMars area graduating from LeMars High School in 1943. She then met LeRoy Niehus and they were married June 22, 1948 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Oyens, IA. They farmed and resided in Remsen form many years and raised four children. LeRoy died March 25, 1999. Marcella was a resident of Good Samaritan Society since Nov. 2012.
Marcella was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Catholic Order of Foresters. In her free time Marcella enjoyed sewing, quilting, canvas needle point, gardening and tending to her flowers and card club.
Survivors include: her three children, Kathy (Wayne) Vandal of Kasson, MN, Pat (Glenn) Blinkmann of Mason City, IA, Bob Niehus of Remsen, IA; one daughter-in-law, Deb Niehus of Remsen, IA; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren
Preceded in death by, her parents, son, Jim, brothers, Leonard (Mary) and Cyril (Ruth) Reichling.
Casket Bearers will be Troy, Jason and Tyler Niehus, Andrew, Jeff and Kevin Blinkmann and Mike Niehus.
C.O.F. Honorary Bearers will be Don Konz, Larry Galles, Dave Ahlers and Jerry Staab.
