Margie Galles, 89 of Remsen, IA passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, IA.
           
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Mar. 2, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA with Rev. William McCarthy officiating and Deacon Rick Roder assisting.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen, IA.  Visitation with family present will be any time after 4 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 1, 2016.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.

​Margie was born Aug. 7, 1926, near Alton, IA the daughter of Joe and Emma (Mousel) Konz.  She was raised on a farm outside of Alton/Granville, and was one of 8 children. She attended St. Mary’s Academy in Alton until the 8th grade.
           
She married Marvin Galles Jan. 8, 1946 at Alton.  The couple made their home near Archer, IA where they farmed until 1949 when they moved to the Neptune area to farm.  In 1958 they moved to a farm near Marcus, IA and one year later moved to a farm southeast of Remsen.  Over the years they raised 8 children of their own.  They retired and moved into Remsen in July 1995.  Marvin died Nov. 17, 2004.
Margie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the church guild.  Margie became a skilled cook and devoted caretaker to her family and children. Even until her passing, she was known for making and sharing the best fresh bread. Margie also enjoyed singing country music with her daughters. “Coat of Many Colors,” became one the family’s favorite anthems as it mirrored her humble upbringing. Margie treasured time with her family.  Her children and grandchildren stopped by her house every day for lunch, a card game or just a chat. She enjoyed singing.  She was so deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her.  
                                 
Survivors include; her seven children Jerry Galles of Marcus, IA, Sharon and Tom Harpenau of Alton, IA, Donna Waldschmitt, Charlie and Jan Galles all of Remsen, Janet and Ric Hansen of Alton, IA , Judy and Dennis Bollmeyer of Hinton, IA, Linda Galles and Terry Fedders of Struble, IA. She is survived by 34 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; her siblings, Leander (Jane) Konz, Arlene Galles all of Remsen, Ann Shea of Primghar, IA, Joe (Germaine) Konz of Granville, IA
Preceded by: her parents, one son David, one son-in-law, David Waldschmitt, one brother, Loyal Konz.
Casket bearers will be Jeff Harpenau, John Galles, Jeremy Galles, Brandon Bollmeyer, Rick Waldschmitt, Dakota Hansen.
