Mildred Goebel

Mildred Goebel, 86 years old, of Granville, IA, died Thursday, January 13, 2011, Orange City Health Systems Long Term Care in Orange City, IA.  
        Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 17, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville with Rev. Richard Ball officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Granville.  Friends may call anytime after 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, 2011.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m., and vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville.  Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
        Mildred was born May 11, 1924, at rural Hospers, IA, the daughter of William B. & Clara (Hoffman) Klein.  She was raised in the Hospers area.  She attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School at Hospers.  On June 19, 1945 she married Linus Goebel at Hospers, IA.  The couple made their home on the family farm north of Granville where they farmed until their retirement.  Mildred worked at the Granville Co-Op Elevator as a bookkeeper for many years.  The couple retired on the farm in 1989.  Linus died April 13, 2010.        
        Mildred was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church & church guild.  She was active as a choir member and Alter Society.  She was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters & V.F.W. Auxillary.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. 
        Survivors include; Daughter, Donna Schumacher & her husband Larry of Sioux City, IA; Son, Jerry Goebel & his wife Shirley of Mesa, AZ; Son, Francis Goebel & his wife Jan of Granville, IA; Son, Hank Goebel & his wife Mary of Granville, IA;  Daughter, Jolene Schorg & her husband Gerald of Remsen, IA; 12) Grandchildren, Tracy Feist, Tanya Jensen, Terri Murrell, Kevin, Doug & Gary Goebel, Allison Keller, James & Matt Goebel, Justin Schorg, Sarah Busch, Ryan Schorg; 11) Great-grandchildren; 2) Sisters, Agnes Vortherms & her husband Leo of Westbrook, MN, Germaine McCoy & her husband Robert of Mountain Home, Idaho; 5) Brothers, Vincent Klein & his wife Marilyn of Hospers, IA, Ambrose Klein of Storm Lake, IA, Oscar Klein & his wife Marie of Alton, IA, Norbert Klein & his wife  Joan of Sanborn, IA, Art Klein of Ames, IA.   4) Sisters-in-law, Angeline Goebel of Worthington, MN, Joan Loutsch & her husband Ray of Oyens, IA, Arlene McDermott of Kingsley, IA, Mary Murphy of Cherokee, IA.  2) Brother-in-laws, Firmin Goebel & his wife Rosanne of Worthington, MN, Gerald Goebel & his wife Mary Ann of Granville
        Preceded by: her parents, 1) Brother, Leonard in childhood, 5) Brothers-in-law, Odilo & Ivan Goebel, Magnus Goebel & his wife Leona, Larry McDermott & Tom Murphy, Two sisters-in-law Vivian & her husband Pete Homan, Blanche Klein. 
        Casket Bearers will be, Tracy Feist, Tanya Jensen, Terri Murrell, Allison Keller, Sarah Busch.
        Honorary Casket Bearers will be, Kevin, Doug, Gary, James & Matt Goebel, Justin & Ryan Schorg.
