Milo Douglas Streff, 89 years old, of Alton, IA, died Monday, May 18, 2015, At Orange City Area Health Systems Hospital in Orange City, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alton. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. & a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Milo was born Jan. 25, 1926, at rural Alton, IA, the son of Aloysius & Anna (Wathier) Streff. Milo was raised in the Alton area and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy SeaBees during WWII. On June 6, 1949 he married Valeria Jungers in Hospers, IA. They raised their family and farmed in rural Alton until retiring in January of 1987. Milo enjoyed bowling, golfing, gambling, and the Milwaukee Weiner House.
Milo was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include: his wife of 65 years, Valeria Streff of Alton; nine children, Tom Streff of Dallas, TX, Pat (Steve) Heying of San Antonio, TX, Jim (Jane) Streff of West Plains, MO, Terry (Dawn) Streff of Alton, IA, Gail (Dean) List of Waterloo, NE, John (Karen) Streff of Orange City, IA, Mary (Mike) Trizila of Sioux City, IA, Betsy (Dan) Stoll of Granville, IA, Bill (Cindy) Streff of Des Moines, IA; 24 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Arnold Streff of Alton.
Preceded in death by: his parents, one brother, Aloysius Jr., three sisters, Evelyn (Barney) Bindner, Hazel (John) Schumacher and Clarice (Aloysius) Jonas; one great-grandson, Thomas Streff.
Casket Bearers will be, Adam Streff, Ryan Stoll, Dustin Streff, Matthew List, Ben Streff and Jon List.
