Myrna Darlene Wittkop
August 26, 1930 — December 29, 2016
Myrna (Mert) Wittkop, 86 of LeMars, IA, died on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars, after a hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s. We are grateful that her struggle is over.
The family is holding a private service. In lieu of flowers or other memorials the family would like contributions to go to Alzheimer’s Research. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen. Condolences may be sent online to www.fischfh.com.
Myrna was born on August 26, 1930, the daughter of the late Henry and Doretta (Pecks) Plueger in LeMars, Iowa. She lived her entire life in the Remsen and LeMars area.
On Feb. 20, 1950 Mert married Robert Wittkop in Remsen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Erlin Plueger and her grandson, Ben Kresl.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Bob, of Le Mars, Iowa; five daughters and 3 sons, Marsha (Mike) Flewelling of Frisco, TX, Doug (Ruth) Wittkop of Iowa City, IA, Jana (Larry) Niehus of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Rod (Carmen) Wittkop of Worland, WY, Michelle (Lou) Kresl of Omaha, NE, Kathy (Doug) Dimmitt of Cypress, TX, Dean Wittkop of Omaha, NE, Jody Ognoskie of San Antonio, TX. 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her 8 children are grateful and so blessed to have had her for their mother. Our hearts will always remember her kindness and unconditional love.
We would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Plymouth Manor and to Hospice of Siouxland.
