Norma Tentinger

Norma Sheehan-Tentinger, 88, of Remsen, died Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Bavarian Meadows Assisted Living in Remsen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Rev. William McCarthy officiating and Deacon Rick Roder assisting. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in LeMars, Iowa. Visitation with family present will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, with a parish rosary at 5 followed immediately by a vigil prayer service at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, IA. Visitation will resume at 9:30 until service time Thursday at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Condolences may be sent online to www.fischfh.com.

Norma Loutsch was born July 8, 1928, at rural Remsen, the daughter of Dominic and Catherine (Niehus) Loutsch. Norma was raised in the Remsen area graduating from St. Mary's Catholic School in Remsen in 1946. She then did domestic work in the Remsen area. Norma married Leslie Sheehan Aug. 30, 1949. The couple had three children, Larry, Patrick and Madonna. They farmed rural LeMars. Leslie died July 22, 1969. On Aug. 1, 1972 she married Emmert Tentinger at Oyens, IA. The couple had a family farming operation south of Remsen with their sons. Emmert died January 20, 1988.

She enjoyed bowling, active walking, coffee shop club, volunteering at Happy Siesta Health Care Center and St. Mary’s Church.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, church guild and Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include: her daughter, Madonna Shelso of Sioux Falls, SD; her daughter-in-law, Renee Sheehan, of Remsen, IA; stepson Mike (Rochelle) Tentinger of Remsen; her stepdaughter, Peggy (Blain) Butner, of Arlington, Virginia; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grand-children, 5 step-grandchildren, two brothers, Vernon (Marge) Loutsch of LeMars, IA, Dale (Joyce) Loutsch, of Remsen, IA; two sisters, Collete Wright of Moville, IA, Alice Seuntjens, of Kingsley, sister-in-law, Lavonne Loutsch, of Remsen, IA,; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Leslie Sheehan and Emmert Tentinger, two sons, Larry Sheehan, Pat (Mary) Sheehan, four brothers, John (Cleo) Loutsch, Gene (Mary) Loutsch, Art (Dorothy) Loutsch, Paul Loutsch, two sisters, Delores (Alvin) Groepper, Kathleen (Kenneth) Groepper, two brothers-in-law, Farrell Wright and Mick Seuntjens.

Casket bearers will be, Scott, Ryan, Dan and Neil Sheehan, Patrick and Matthew Shelso.
