Patricia S. Nilles, 85 years old, of Remsen, IA died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 at Remsen.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating & Deacon Rick Roder assisting. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m., and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Pat was born on May 5, 1929, at Carnes, IA the daughter of Victor & Clara (Hansen) Schneider. She was raised near Carnes and attended St. Mary’s Academy in Alton graduating in 1947. She then started working at Toy National Bank in Sioux City and then Sioux County Court House as overseer of the poor.
On May 31, 1954 she married Francis Nilles at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. The couple made their home in the Remsen area. She then began working for the City of Remsen as a bookkeeper and then worked for Remsen Union High School as the superintendent’s secretary and the school board secretary. After she retired from the school she worked for Dr. Tami Bohnenkamp as a bookkeeper part time until 3 weeks ago.
Pat was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and church guild. She enjoyed flower gardening. She loved spending time with her family and especially her great-granddaughter.
Survivors include: her husband Francis of Remsen; one son, Dave (Terri) Nilles of Alton, IA; one daughter, Joan Nilles of Storm Lake, IA; four grandchildren, Maggie (Luke) Greving, Abby, Kelsey and Jonathan Nilles; great-granddaughter, Emmalyn Greving; two sisters, Sandy (Bob) Erichson of Eustis, FL, Mariwyn McComb of Lafayette, CA; sister-in-law, Jan Schneider of Alton, IA.
Preceded in death by, her parents, one sister, Betty (Bill) Burgess, one brother, Jack Schneider.
Casket Bearers will be Luke Greving, Jon Nilles, Layne and Gaylen Schneider, Pat Hinrichsen.
