Richard Ralph Schuetz

Richard “Rich” Schuetz, 59 of Remsen, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021 at his home in Remsen, IA.
Private Funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021 at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, IA with Father Timothy Pick officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen. Public visitation with family present will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Rich was born Dec. 3, 1961 at LeMars, IA, the son of Ralph & Rita (Kass) Schuetz. He was raised near Alton, IA and attended Spalding Catholic School graduating in 1980.
On June 30, 1984 he married Beth Hodgson at LeMars, IA. The couple lived near Remsen where they farmed and also worked at Well’s dairy in LeMars, IA. The couple moved to Four Corners, WY for a while where Rich worked at the Rio Tinto Coal Mine with local timber cutting. The couple then moved back to Remsen where Rich continued to farm and also worked at Scooter’s Meats in Brunsville, IA.
Rich was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, boating, moonshining, butchering, Hawkeye football and golf until he got hurt. He was known for his great beef sticks. He also loved spending time with his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife Beth of Remsen; his three children, Luke and Matt Schuetz of Remsen, IA, Jackie (Jesse) Langel of LeMars, IA; his three grandchildren, Haley, Aria and Nixon; one brother, Lyle (Deb) Schuetz of Remsen; brothers-in-law, David Hodgson of LeMars, IA, Doug (Liz) Hodgson of Urbandale, IA; sister-in-law, Jill (Scott) Boeyink of Urbandale, IA; Father & Mother-in-law, Clayton & Ardella Hodgson of LeMars, IA; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph & Rita Schuetz; his sister, Darlene Schuetz; sister-in-law, Janice Schuetz; maternal grandparents, Frank & Elizabeth Kass; paternal grandparents, Albert & Dorothy Schuetz.
Casket bearers will be Mike Schuetz, Dan Schuetz, Ken Schuetz, Scott Boeyink, Rick Berendes and Jerry Weiler.
