Rita M. Cook, 93 of Granville, IA passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016 at Happy Siesta Health Care in Remsen, IA.
           
Funeral Service will be Friday, Feb. 19, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, IA with Rev. Terry Roder officiating.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Granville, IA. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. by the Catholic Order of Foresters and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville.  Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen.


           
Rita was born Nov. 23, 1922, at Farmer, SD the daughter of Peter and Rose Marie (Fellenz) Schladweiler.  She was raised and educated in Farmer, SD and attended St. Peter’s Catholic School for 8 years then graduated from Edgerton Consolidated in Farmer, SD.  She then attended St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Mitchell, SD graduating in 1944.  She worked as an RN first in Minneapolis and North Carolina she was licensed in 5 states.  


           
In 1945 she married her high school sweetheart Clark Cook a US Marine in North Carolina.  She worked as an RN in the different places making 50 cents an hour. In 1946 the couple settled down in Marcus to raise their family.  Rita continued to be an RN, at the state hospital and other hospitals and NITC coordinating the health programs.  She also worked at Mid-Sioux in Remsen, she retired in 1986.  She lived and raised a family in 19 different communities due to Clark’s work.  Clark passed away in July 2002.  Rita then retired to Granville.  She then moved to Happy Siesta in 2009.


She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, church guild, Catholic Daughters of America and Catholic Order of Foresters.  She loved reading, playing cards watching TV, saturday night dancing with Clark, fishing and embroiderey.


                                 
Survivors include; one son, Rodney (Margaret) Cook of Murray, KY, two daughters, Charlotte (Dennis) Braun of Remsen, Joyce (Morris) Stukey of Great Bend, KS, one son-in-law, Dan Horkey of Granville; grandchildren, Paul Braun, Jennifer (David) Roszak, Kate Braun, Matt (Tonya) Braun, Steve (Jaci) Braun, Leisha (Kent) Barlow, Ryan (Amelia) Cook, Brian Stukey and his fiancé Kendra, Sara (Jeff) Hagerman, Greg (Regina) Stukey, Laura (Mike) Martin, Dana (Corey) Riley, Gina Davis; 35 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Nancy Pick of LeMars. Many nieces and nephews.



Preceded by: her parents, one daughter Donna Horkey, two brothers, Clarence (Norma) and Gregory (Lorraine) Schladweiler, three sisters, Sally (John) Wagner, Isabelle (Milo) Weber and Jane (Jim) Gerhardt, three brothers-in-law, Henry Jr. in infancy, Roger (Lona) Cook and Cliff Pick, three sisters-in-law, Velma (Garland) Geister, Arvey Cook, Mary Zoch .


Casket Bearers will be Paul, Matt and Steve Braun, Brian and Greg Stukey and Ryan Cook.
