Robert 'Bob' Alesch

Robert “Bob” Alesch, 75 years old, of Alton, IA, died Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Orange City Area Health System in Orange City, IA.  
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Rev. Kevin Richter officiating, Rev. Terry Roder and Rev. Paul Eisele concelebrating and Deacon Dan Goebel assisting.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alton.  Graveside military honors will be conducted by Floyd Post 200 American Legion.  Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, 2015.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. & a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.  Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.  
Bob was born Jan. 4, 1940, at Le Mars, IA, the son of Laurence & Valeria (Arens) Alesch.  He was raised and educated in the Marcus area. In 1956 he moved with his parents and family to a farm south of Alton. In 1964 he married Diane Pottebaum. The couple lived in the Alton area where he continued to farm at his parent’s farm, which he later purchased. Bob and Diane raised their three children on the farm. They moved to town in 2012 and Bob continued to farm. 
Bob was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, Floyd Post 200 American Legion of Alton and Knights of Columbus. He was a Eucharistic minister. In the summer Bob could be seen riding his Gator. He had a love for his children and grandchildren, watching them play sports, and farming.  He also loved the Minnesota Twins and the Iowa Hawkeyes. 
Survivors include: his wife, Diane of Alton, IA his three children, Linda Alesch of Lakeville, MN., Jean (Marty) Christiansen of Lakeville, MN., and Jeff (Michele) Alesch of  Alton, IA.  Six Grandchildren, Matt, Steven, and Michael Christiansen, Caitlin, Jaci, and MaKenna Alesch. Two brothers;, Dick (Pam) Alesch of Marietta, GA. and Thomas Alesch of Denison, IA. Two sisters, Mary Schmidt of Des Moines, IA. and Kathy (Joseph) Alesch Baker of Naples, FL.  In-laws, Marvin (Annette) Pottebaum of Remsen, IA., and Pat (Tony) Newman of Alton, IA. 
Preceded by: his parents, two sisters, Alice Alesch and Patricia Alesch, two brothers, Michael and John Alesch. Parents In-law, Edmund and Verena Pottebaum.
Casket Bearers will be Marty Christiansen, Matt Christiansen, Steven Christiansen, Michael Christiansen, Marv Babcock and Bob Reichle. 
Honorary Bearers will be Caitlin Alesch, Jaci Alesch and MaKenna Alesch.
