Robert J. Konz, 93 years old, of LeMars, IA passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Oyens with Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in the St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery in Oyens. Graveside Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Wasmer Post 241 of LeMars and V.F.W. Post 3328 of Remsen. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Bob was born April 6, 1921 to John and Celia (Plathe) Konz in Granville, IA. He was raised and attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Granville. In 1941, Bob joined the Navy and was deployed overseas during World War II. Battles he participated in: North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Southern France, Port Layette, Gela, Slareno, Anzio, Marseille.
When he returned home he married Dorothy Delperdang on June 18, 1946 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Oyens, IA and farmed in the Primghar area. In 1951, they moved near Le Mars where he continued farming. In 1997 he retired and bought an acreage with his son Tom.
Bob was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Remsen VFW, Le Mars American Legion Post 241, Columbus Club. Bob enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bowling, playing the accordion, playing Frisbee with Luke the dog. He also loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include: his wife Dorothy of LeMars; two sons, Marcel (Vickie) Konz of Oyens, IA, Tom Konz of Le Mars; four daughters, Kathy Delzeit of Plainville, KS, Betty (Rick) Gotto, Eldora, IA, Darlene (Jim) Oetken, Le Mars, IA, Rose Snoozy and her fiancé Jason Altman, Davis, SD; 11 Grandchildren, 11 Great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Sister Janet Delperdang of Sinsinawa, WI, Rita Wiederholt of LeMars, IA, Rita Delperdang of LeMars, IA.
Preceded in death by, his parents; daughter, Janet; son, Richard; one grandson, Mike Stoos, one son-in-law, Don Delzeit, four sisters: Ann, Rose, Liz and Martha; six brothers, Pete, George, Bernard, Sylvester, Albert and Ray.
Casket Bearers will be: Matt Gotto, Ashley Snoozy, Jill Boetger, Sarah Langel, Krista Peters and Andrea Hamilton.
Honorary Bearers will be Cassie McDougall, Courtney Snoozy, Kim Kimbrow and Amy Thomason.
