April 23, 1969 — August 19, 2017

REMSEN, Iowa -Stephen Edward George, 48, of Remsen died of natural causes, Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday August 25, 2017, at Christ Lutheran Church, LCMS, in Remsen, with Pastor Dennis Martens officiating. Burial will follow at the Remsen Community Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church. Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the funeral fund and the future needs of Stephen’s children. Accounts have been established at both American Bank and Iowa State Bank in Remsen.

Stephen George was born on April 23, 1969 to Robert Harry George Sr. and Barbara (Minyard) George. He was raised and educated in Bastrop, LA. He continued his education graduating in 2002 from Morningside College in Sioux City with a degree as an Art Education Teacher.

In 2003 Stephen married Penny Kruthoff. The couple raised their family in Remsen, Iowa where Stephen worked at the Remsen Union and MMCRU schools teaching art. Stephen and Penny later separated.

Stephen was a very gifted artist. He was best known for his abstract art. He was talented at drawing and sculpting. He loved teaching others his gift of art. He also enjoyed working out and was a tattoo artist in the past.

Above all Stephen loved his children. Daymion E. George and Oceanna M.H. George, both at home in Remsen, and Coral M. Toben of Cushing, Iowa, and his granddaughter Ryleigh M. S. Powell.
He is also survived by his brother Robert (Bob) George Jr. of Mer Rouge, LA, and his sister, Becky Smith and her husband Terri of Bastrop, LA along with nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gregory Grimes George, Grandparents, Edward Piercy George SR. and his wife Neva, Uncle Edward Piercy George Jr. and his wife Betty, and an Aunt Elizabeth George.

Casket Bearers will be Mike Sparr, Matt Arndt, Craig Anderson, Kyle Arndt, Al Groetken, and Jim Miller.
