Suzanne "Sue" Treinen

July 22, 1949 — November 20, 2011

Suzanne “Sue” (Melentovich) Treinen, 62 years old, of Remsen, IA, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at Orange City Health Systems Hospital in Orange City, IA.
        Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Remsen.  Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a Catholic Order of Foresters rosary all at the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, IA.
        Suzanne was born July 22, 1949, at Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Walter & Mary Ruth (Morgan) Melentovich.  Sue grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Bishop Heelen High School in 1967.  She attended Briar Cliff College and graduated in 1971 with a degree in speech therapy.
        On Sept. 16, 1972 she married Magnus (Max) Treinen.  The couple made their home on a farm east of Remsen.  In 1976 they moved to the family farm near Remsen where she raised a family and kept Max in line.  There’s no doubt she’s in Heaven.
        Suzanne was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church & church guild, Catholic Order of Foresters, & The Chit Chat Club of Marcus.  During her free time Sue enjoyed reading books on her Kindle & praying numerous rosaries for anyone in need of prayers.  Spending time with family was her favorite thing to do.  Marlene Harpenau had her number on speed dial for working at every church & school function.  She was an amazing & loving wife, mother, and friend.  She will be greatly missed.
        Survivors include; her husband, Max of Remsen; one daughter, Kairee Gesink & her husband Nick of Sioux Center, IA; one son, Nathan Treinen & his wife Kristin & their daughter Paige of Sioux City, IA; brothers & sisters-in-law, Danny Treinen & his wife Rosemary of Hubbard Lake, MI, Tom Treinen of Barefoot Bay, FL, Mary Bruening & her husband Jerry of Fort Dodge, IA, Wayne Treinen & his wife Linda of Laguna Hills, CA, Richard Treinen & his wife Pat of Sioux City, IA, Rose Treinen of Fort Dodge, IA.
        Preceded by: her parents, Walter & Mary Ruth Melentovich.
        Casket Bearers will be:

          In Lieu of Flowers the family requests donations be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Roofing Project in Remsen & St. Mary’s School in Remsen.
