Vincent Theodore Klein

Vincent Theodore Klein, 87, of Hospers, died Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Orange City Health Systems Hospital in Orange City.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers, IA with Rev. Doug Klein and Rev. Terry Roder officiating and other concelebrating priests.  Burial will be in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Hospers, IA. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a 4th degree Knights of Columbus Chalice Presentation all at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers.  Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen.
Vincent was born September 24, 1927, the son of William and Clara (Hoffmann) Klein.  He was raised on a farm southeast of Hospers.  He graduated from St. Anthony’s School.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953, and received his GED.  He farmed for the rest of his life being an avid, lifelong cattle feeder.
On January 17, 1959, Vincent married Marilyn Newman at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellendale, Iowa.  They lived on the family farm near Hospers until they moved to town in 1995.
Vincent was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where he served as Eucharistic Minister and lector, was lay director of the parish board and member of the cemetery board.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3810 and a Charter Member of the Father McGivney Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.  Vincent served on the Hospers Elevator Board and the Coop Oil Board.  He was also a dedicated blood donor.
He enjoyed family celebrations and watching his grandchildren’s activities, golfing and having coffee with his friends.  His passion was raising cattle, and he tracked the markets up until his last few days.
Survivors include:  his wife, Marilyn Klein of Hospers; six children and their families, Darryl and Susan Klein of Hospers and their children Courtney, Brett, Dane, Cari and Chad; Deb and Don Burwitz of Larchwood, IA and their children Jeff and his fiancé Alexis, Tim and his wife Steffani, and Dan; Dave and Janet Klein of Hospers and their children Dennis, Heather and her husband Alex Sitzmann, and Keith; Father Doug Klein of Hawarden; Jim and Mary Klein of LeMars, IA and their children Matt and his fiancé Becca, Michelle, Nathan and Emily; Linda and Jim Daskiewicz of Omaha, NE and their children Marissa, John, Sarah, Anna and Julia. 
 He is also survived by a sister Agnes and her husband Leo Vortherms, and brothers Norbert and his wife Joan Klein and Art Klein, sisters-in-law Marie Klein, Shirley Morrissey and her husband John Ashmore, Bernice and her husband Leo Boland, and Arlene and her husband John Jones, and brothers-in-law Bob McCoy, Ken and his wife Pat Newman and Martin and his wife Peg Hildreth.
Vincent was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dennis Klein, three brothers, Leonard Klein in  childhood, Ambrose Klein and Oscar Klein, two sisters Mildred Goebel and Germaine McCoy, three brothers-in-law Linus Goebel, Don Hindman and Dick Morrissey and three sisters-in-law Blanch Klein, Kathy Hildreth and Phyllis Hindman.
