Virginia M. Pick Marklein, 86 of Granville, Iowa, died July 17, 2011 at Brookestone Village in Omaha, NE
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 10:30a.m. from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville, IA with Rev. Richard Ball officiating. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. Tuesday July 19, 2011. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. & a vigil prayer service at 7p.m. all at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville, IA. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Virginia was born March 20, 1925 at Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Joseph and Louise (Schnurr) Koehler. Virginia was raised on a farm near Granville Iowa and attended St. Joseph grade school.
On January 10, 1944 she was married to Milo Pick at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville. She and Milo farmed near Granville and were blessed with five children. After Milo’s death in 1992, Virginia married Marvin Marklein and enjoyed retirement until Marvin’s death in 2000. Virginia continued her residence in Granville until moving to Bavarian Meadows assisted living in Remsen in June of 2009. Declining health necessitated her move to Omaha were she resided at Parsons House. Her past six months were spent in Brookestone Village, a care facility, where she received loving care until her passing.
Virginia was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville. She and Milo enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and baking. She loved her family and friends.
Survivors: 3) sons: Dennis Pick & wife Helen of Sioux City, IA Michael Pick of Norfolk, NE & Scott Pick of Pipestone MN. 2) daughters, Cheryl Cavel & her husband Dr.Thomas of Omaha, NE & Pat Rohde of Phoenix, AZ; 4) stepchildren: Jerry Marklein & his wife Sarah of Dardanelle, AK, Charlotte Morgan & her husband Wayne of Milwaukee, WI, Dan Marklein & his wife Kay of Louisville, KY, Duane Marklein & his wfie Suzanne all of Milwaukee, WI. 13) Grandchildren 11) Great Grandchildren; 1) Brother in law: Cyril Haupert and his wife Edna Mae of Alton, IA; 2) Sisters in law: Mert Pick & Carol Pick both of Remsen, IA
