Wendel Joseph Staab, 61 years old, of Remsen, IA died unexpectedly Monday, March 18, 2013 at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars, IA. 
        Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 21, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy and Deacon Rick Roder officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Remsen.  Following the burial a luncheon will be held at City Hall Gym in Remsen. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2013.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
        Wendel was born on March 17, 1952, at LeMars, IA the son of Ervin and Fern (Miller) Staab.  He was raised in the Remsen area and attended St. Mary’s High School, where he graduated in 1970.  He then farmed with the family near Remsen.
        On April 11, 1975, he married Debra Kay Busse at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen.  They lived north of Remsen where they farmed for 37 years.
        Wendel was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandkids.  Farming was his life and in his younger years he also enjoyed cattle farming.
        Survivors include: his wife Debra of Remsen; five sons, Donald (Becky) Staab , Adam (Kim) Staab, Christopher (Christine) Staab all of Remsen, Chad (Cheryl) Staab of Fargo, ND, Jesse (Jackie) Staab of Remsen, IA; Grandchildren, Jordan, Hunter, Logan, Raya, Josie, Ellie, Miller, Braxton, Haley, Sabrina, Bryce and Breanna Staab and Katie Lee; three brothers, Wayne, Dean and Dale Staab all of Remsen.
        Preceded in death by, his parents.
        Casketbearers will be, Jim, Jerry, Joe and Pat Staab, Larry and Dick Miller.
        Honorary Bearers will be his grandchildren.
