Wilfred J. Hoffmann, 77 years old, of Hospers, IA died Friday, April 22, 2011, after a 20 year battle with cancer, at Sanford Sheldon Senior Care Center in Sheldon, IA. 
        Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2011, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hospers with Rev. Paul Eisele officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Hospers.  Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2011.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m., and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hospers.  Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen, IA.
        Wilfred was born on Aug. 27, 1933, at rural Hospers, IA, the son of Aloysius & Rose (Niichel) Hofffmann.  He was raised and educated in the Hospers area & attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Hospers.  In Nov. 1954 he entered the U.S. Army and served until Nov. 1956, when he transferred to the US Army Reserves and served until Nov. 1962.  Wilfred then started farming in 1964 until 2008.     
        Wilfred was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and past member of the Knights of Columbus.
        Survivors include: Three sisters, Alice Stapenhorst of Sheldon, IA, Viola Schmit of Hospers, Pat Steffes& her husband Darrel of Granville, IA; Four brothers, Jerry Hoffmann & his wife Jeanie of Loveland, CO, Marvin Hoffmann of Hospers, Bob Hoffmann & his wife Ruth of Archer, IA, Jim Hoffmann of Bloomington, MN; Several nieces & nephews, & great-nieces & nephews
        Preceded in death by, his parents, One sister, Bernice Konz & her husband Bob, two brothers-in-law, Don Stapenhorst & Milton Schmit, one nephew Steven Steffes, one great-nephew Demetri Hoffmann.
        In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be directed to Sheldon Hospice.
