Agnes Elizabeth Vonderharr, 99 years old, of Granville, IA, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon, IA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville with Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Granville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Agnes was born Dec. 12, 1915, at rural Alton, IA, the daughter of Anton J. and Mary (Steichen) Klein. She was raised in the Alton area and started her education at a country school and finished at St. Mary’s Academy in Alton, IA. She worked for several local families before marrying Edward Vonderharr on September 10, 1935 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, IA. After their wedding they moved to a farm north of Granville, IA and spent the next 53 years there before retiring and moving to their home in Granville. Edward died Dec. 16, 2005.
Agnes was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Church Guild.
Survivors include: four sons John “Jack” and wife Pauline Riverside CA, Edward L. and wife Cheryl, Buena Park CA, David L. and wife Sarah of Austin, TX, Warren F. and wife Marcia of Powhatan VA; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and one brother George Klein.
Preceded in death by: her parents, one daughter, Mary Kay in 1975, one grandson, Michael Allen, three sisters Anna M. Budden, Esther Ahlers and Marian Klein, two brothers, Gerald and Anton Klein.
Casket bearers will be Tom Vonderharr, Steve Christensen, Norman Klein, Dan Kriener and Randy Plathe.
