Alan Lee Sand, 75, of Cleghorn Iowa, passed away on October 30, 2025 at his home in Cleghorn, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 on Tuesday, November 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church rural Marcus, Iowa. Rev. Alex Kaldahl will officiate. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Marcus, Iowa. Visitation will be Monday, November 3 at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument, Earnest-Johnson Chapel in Marcus, Iowa. The family will be present from 5-7 pm, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. There will also be an hour of visitation at the Church prior to the service on Tuesday.
Alan was born on November 13, 1949, in LeMars, Iowa, to Lorne (Bob) and Marie (Peck) Sand. He was baptized and confirmed at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, Iowa. He attended Holy Name Catholic School through eighth grade. He then went to Marcus Community School in Marcus, Iowa, graduating in 1968. He attended college at Emmetsburg, Iowa.
Alan lived numerous places during the time he worked for IBP and BPI.
In 1999 he and Constance (Olson) were married, and they made their home in Cleghorn. He worked in construction until he was injured and had to retire.
Alan loved camping and fishing. He spent a lot of his summers camped near Pickstown, South Dakota, where he could take his boat out and fish all day. He was also a fanatic about his yard, and spent many hours carefully manicuring his lawn.
When he became ill, he started taking instructions in the Lutheran Church, and became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus. He truly appreciated all the time that Pastor Kaldahl spent teaching him, as well as his many visits.
Alan adored his children and grandchildren, and their visits and phone calls brought him such joy. Papa made them all feel special, and he was so loved by them.
Alan will be very much missed by his loving wife Connie and his furry kids, Sammy and Shadow.
Survivors include his children Jeska Sand, Brooklyn, NY, Nicole (Carlos) Guizar, Kennewick, WA, Allee (Zack) Corcoran, Kennewick, WA, Chad (Alina) McIntyre, Alton, IA, Shane (Mayra) Sand, Santa Clarita, CA, Jennifer Riley, Grand Prairie, TX, and Kathryn (Callen) Breen, Chatham, NJ.
His grandchildren, who he loved with all his heart, Gracelynn (Payton) Haberkorn, Gemma Guizar, Penelope and Clio Corcoran, Derek Morley, Bridget, Maeve and Scarlett McIntyre, Tyler, Nicholas, and Victoria Sand, Alexa Sand-Villeda, Angel Cervantes-Villeda, Vann, Chayce and Ash Riley, Alexis Malec-Neuberger, Ryker, Davin and Easton Almagno, and Mackenzie and Connor Breen.
Also his siblings Beverly (Jim) Nielsen, Marcus, IA, Dean (Mary) Sand, Omaha, NE, and Monica (Tom) Mayer, Marcus, IA,
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Marie Sand, parents-in-law, Jim and Lorna Olson, and grandchild, Peyton Almagno.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Hueser, Paul Anderson, Mike Olson, Brad Sand, Ed Sand, Denny Horstman.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Heiden, Gary Lundquist, Jon Dorr, Ed Roberson, John Sand, Roger Koppen.
