Arlie Grage

Arlie Grage, 90 years old, of Marcus, IA, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at Orange City Area Health System Hospital in Orange City, IA.


            Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church rural Marcus, IA with Pastor Don Meyer officiating.  Burial will be in the Remsen Community Cemetery.  Visitation will be any time after 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014.  There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.  Visitation will resume Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until service time.


            Arlie was born June 12, 1924, at rural Remsen, IA, the son of Joe & Dora (Christopherson) Grage.  He was raised and educated in the Remsen area attending both rural school and Remsen High School graduating in 1943.  He then was engaged in farming.


            On Jan. 27, 1948 he married Aileen Case at Remsen.  The couple then farmed near Marcus.


            Arlie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing.


Survivors include: his wife, Aileen of Marcus; five children, David (Jan) Grage of Burbank, SD, Donna (Jerry) Sherwood of Sioux City, IA, Lee (Jean) Grage of Remsen, Jean (Larry) Wurth of Marcus, Keith (Diane) Grage of Gregory, SD; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Marian Bierman of Pierson, IA.


Preceded by: his parents, two grandchildren, Brandon and Justin Grage, one great-grandson, Noah Zach, six sisters, Bertha (Elmer) Steffen, Annie (Fred) Steffen, Lillian (Clarence) Heitmann, Viola (William) Gottsche, Erma (Alfred) Hansen, Marie (Gilbert) Roling, four brothers, Henry, Elmer (Melva) and Walter (Helen), Raymond (Marge) Grage, one sister-in-law, Maxine (Eddie) Ludwig, one brother-in-law, Wes Bierman.


Casket bearers will be Jeremy, Michael, Jason, Cody and Alan Grage, Russell and Matt Sherwood and Myles Wurth.
