Bertille Budden-Gergen

Bertille Budden-Gergen, 82 years old, of Granville, IA, died Monday, March. 7, 2011, at Sanford Senior Care Center in Sheldon, IA.        Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville with Rev. Richard Ball officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Granville.  Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m., and vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville.  Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.      Bertille was born Dec. 2, 1928, at Granville, IA, the daughter of Nic & Angeline (Herrig) Plathe.  She was raised on a farm near Granville.  She attended St. Joseph Catholic School.        On Sept. 11, 1945 she married Roman Budden at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville. The couple made their home in Granville.  They owned and operated Budden Oil & Romie’s 66 Service in Granville.  Roman died Oct. 15, 1970.         On Jan. 3, 1975 she married Nick Gergen at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville.  Bertille worked at Harkers in Orange City for a few years.  Nick died Oct. 12, 1978.  In 1983 she went to work for her son Jim at Home Plate Café & Catering in Granville until 1995.  In Oct. 2004 she moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon.  In April 2007 she moved to Sanford Senior Care also in Sheldon.      She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Church Guild, National Catholic Society of Foresters.  She loved to cook & spend time with her family.      Survivors include her five sons, Terry Budden & his wife Arlene of Sheldon, IA, Tom Budden & his wife Mary , Jim Budden & his wife Rhonda, Gerry Budden & his wife Betty all of Granville, Gary Budden & his wife Deb Omaha, NE;  Nine Grandchildren; Eleven great-grandchildren; Three brothers, Virgil Plathe & his wife Joyce of Alton, IA, Mark Plathe & his wife Joanne, Maro Plathe & his wife Rosalie all of Granville; Two sisters-in-law, Irma Wersinger of Maypearl Texas, Eva Budden of Granville.      Preceded in death by: her parents; Several Brothers-in-law & Sisters-in-law.      Casket Bearers will be, Troy, Mike, Chad, Josh, & Ross Budden, Jeff Alesch.
