Cheryl Ann Paulsen, age 82 of Granville, Iowa passed away Monday, March 30, 2026 at Bavarian Meadows Assisted Living in Remsen.
In keeping with Cheryl’s request, the funeral service will be private and for immediate family at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, IA. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Granville, IA. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen www.fischfh.com.
Cheryl was born August 10, 1943 in Glendale, California while her dad was stationed there and her mom was with him, working as a waitress.
Cheryl, the daughter of Cletus and Adeline (Ritz) Bunkers, grew up in Remsen, Iowa and was a 1961 St. Mary’s High School graduate. She married Ron Paulsen on August 29, 1962 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA, and together they raised three children. Cheryl was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville. For about 15 years, she cleaned the church and the parish house.
Family was very important to Cheryl. She enjoyed her family in her own special way. She decorated cookies and cakes for family events and gave each family member a crocheted afghan as a Christmas gift one year. She often said, “I was a stay at home mom and didn’t know it.” Her favorite phrase was “Anything is possible!"
“Volunteer” was Cheryl’s middle name as she participated in a variety of organizations and held offices in some of them. Cheryl was the co-chair of the Country Store during the early years of the church picnic and was a strong supporter of Spalding Catholic Schools.
Cheryl will be deeply missed by her husband, Ron; their children, Tamara (Mark) Lessman, Connie Pomrenke, Scott (Stacey) Paulsen; grandchildren, Marci Lessman, Nina (fiancé Elliott Kittock) Lessman, Jacob (fiancé Ali Caskey) Pomrenke, Isaac Pomrenke, Deven (Kristin) Paulsen, and Drew (Kaitlyn) Paulsen; great granddaughter, Sadie Ann Paulsen; sister and brothers, Meredith (Dave) Scott, Randy (Phyllis) Bunkers, Todd Bunkers, Brian (Shawn) Bunkers.
Casket bearers will be Marci Lessman, Nina Lessman, Jacob Pomrenke, Isaac Pomrenke, Deven Paulsen and Drew Paulsen.
