Clara Ahlers, age 100 of Granville, IA passed away on Thursday,Dec. 4, 2025, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, IA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, IA, with Father Daniel Greving officiating and Deacon Dan Goebel assisting. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Granville. Visitation with family present will be 1 hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, IA.
Clara was born June 24, 1925, in the home she lived all her life. The daughter of Herman and Josephine (Koch) Ahlers. She received her education at Country School & Sister School. She was a faithful caregiver for five of her brothers. Clara enjoyed embroidery, gardening, sudoku puzzles, and tending to her birds. She loved her home and lived there for 99 years before entering Heartland Care Center in January of 2025. She was able to remain in her life-long home with the care of her nephews Dave and Phil Ahlers and their wives.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville.
Survivors consist of numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews that loved her very much. Her most cherished survivor is her beloved little dog, Misty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Helen, as a young child, Rita (Raynold) Theisen, eight brothers: Herman, Arnold, Vince, Bernard, Clarence (Norma), Urban, Raymond, and Edward. Two half-sisters: Catherine Steffes and her husband Mike; Agatha Steffes and her husband Henry.
Casket bearers will be Jeremy Ahlers, Derek Ahlers, Christopher Nielsen, Jim Theisen, John Theisen, and Paul Theisen.
