Clarice Ann Mousel, 73 years old, of Alton, IA, was called home to our Lord after a long battle with Cancer on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Orange City Area Health System Hospital in Orange City, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Msgr. Roger Augustine officiating and Rev. Terry Roder concelebrating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alton. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. & a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Clarice was born April 9, 1941, at Remsen, IA, the daughter of Joseph & Alvina (Schilmoeller) Augustine. She was raised in Remsen and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School graduating in 1959. She then attended LeMars Beauty College graduating in 1960.
On May 12, 1962 she married Dale Mousel at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen. They had 52 wonderful years together. Clarice was a beautician who worked from home so she could be with her children. She also worked for Casey’s making doughnuts for about 30 years.
Clarice was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, church guild, St. Mary’s Rosary Society, and was a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the legion 200. She loved watching her children and grandchildren in all of their activities. She was their biggest supporter and fan. Clarice held a place in her heart for her children and grandchildren and loved them with all her heart.
Survivors include: her husband Dale of Alton; her children, Cathy Mousel of Omaha, NE, Ann Mehrer of Hinton, IA, Barb (Les) Hansen of Alton, Matt (Gina) Mousel of Rock Valley, IA, her English daughter Lyndsey Harley; nine grandchildren, Mitchell, Ben and Rebecca Feller, Michael, Joe and Morgan Mehrer, Zachary, Alexis and Lucas Mousel; two step grandchildren, Breanne Pottebaum and Karissa Horstman; two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Jacie Pottebaum; one sister, Dode Konz of Alton; six brothers, Msgr. Roger Augustine of Marcus, IA, Tom (Sandy) Augustine, Wayne (Kathy) Augustine both of Remsen, Dick (Nancy) Augustine of Sioux City, IA, Dan (Mary) Augustine of South Carolina, Mike (Janet) Augustine of Sioux City, IA; five sisters-in-law, Kay Augustine, Cleon Augustine both of Remsen, Jo Augustine of Estherville, IA, Harriett (Floyd) Fritz of Orange City, IA, Annette (Bob) Hall of Adrian, MI; two brothers-in-law, Tom Mousel of Mesa, AZ, Gary (Donna) Mousel of LeMars, IA.
Preceeded by: her parents; one grandchild, Luke Mehrer; three brothers, Jerry, Ralph and Bill Augustine; mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Viola Mousel, Step mother-in-law, Genevive Mousel; two brothers-in-law, Milton and Francis Mousel.
Casket bearers will be Mitchell and Ben Feller, Michael and Joe Mehrer, Zachary and Lucas Mousel.
