Daniel Raymond Colling, 72 years old, of Remsen, Iowa, died on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family following a brief battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2021 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA with Father William McCarthy officiating, masks are required in church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen, IA. Graveside military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 3328 and American Legion Post 220 of Remsen. Visitation with family present will be from 9 a.m. until service time at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Dan was born November 30, 1948, at Le Mars, the son of Raymond & Ruth (Arens) Colling. He was raised in Remsen and received his education at St. Mary's Catholic School graduating in 1967. He then entered the U.S. Navy stationed on the USS Wright in Virginia. Dan worked for the City of Remsen until his retirement in 2011. Dan was a member of Remsen St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Dan was known for his extensive oldies music collection and baseball collectibles. He also loved supporting the Iowa Hawkeyes and Atlanta Braves.
Dan is survived by his four children, Chris Colling of Houston, Texas, Travis (Jill) Colling of Sioux City, IA, Dustin (Crystal) Colling of Remsen, and Roxanne (Nick) Livermore of Waukee, IA; seven grandchildren, Kaylee, Lincoln, Jace, Bohdy, Boston, Layla & Callie; one sister, Shirley Lewis of Remsen, and three nephews, Scott (Jolynn) Lewis of Remsen, Jeff Lewis of Fort Dodge, IA, and Jody Lewis of Fort Dodge, IA, as well as numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Joseph (Joe) Lewis.
Casket bearers will be, Kaylee, Lincoln, Jace, Bohdy and Boston Colling, Scott, Jeff and Jody Lewis.
Honorary bearers will be Ron, Steve and Charlie Colling.
