David “Dave” Raymond Ruden, (79) of Orange City, IA and formerly of Remsen, IA passed away on Wednesday, November 20th 2024.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alton, Iowa with Rev. Daniel Greving officiating and Deacon Dan Goebel assisting. Burial will follow at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Remsen, IA. Visitation with family present will be 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, there will be a rosary and vigil prayer service at 5 p.m. all at the Church in Alton. Visitation will resume from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Monday at the church. Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. www.fischfh.com
David Raymond Ruden was born on February 20th 1945 in LeMars, IA to John and Toni (Ludwig) Ruden. He received his education from Remsen St. Mary’s and graduated in 1963. After graduation he enlisted into the Army National Guard and was later honorably discharged. After his honorable discharge he returned back to Remsen and worked for Wells Dairy.
On April 16th 1966, Dave and Ann Haverkamp united in marriage at St. Mary’s in Remsen, IA. Dave and Ann resided outside of Granville, IA on a farm and farmed until 1982 when they moved to New Richland MN and farmed until 1989 when they moved back to Germantown IA where he continued his passion for farming until he retired from in 2009. Dave continued working for GCC in Sioux Center, IA until his passing.
Dave was a loving and caring husband of 58 years. He cherished times with his six children, 9 grandchildren and his great grandchild. If you could not find him talking someone’s ear off or spending time with his family you could find him driving country roads, tending to his gardens, or a fishing pole in his hand.
Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ann Ruden of Orange City, IA; his son Keith Ruden of Eagle Lake, MN; his daughter Tammy Schiefen from LeMars, IA and her husband Chad; his son Kevin Ruden from Honey Creek, IA and his husband Randy McGlothlin; his son Kurt Ruden from Meriden, IA and his wife Amanda; his daughter Teresa Ailts from Dodge Center, MN and her special friend Chris Whitaker; his daughter Tracey Lynch from Omaha, NE; his grandchildren; Jessica and her husband Ashtyn Beller, Cody Franck, Michael and Shanna Ruden, Ella and Kaylee Ailts, Clayton and Ethan Lynch; his step-grandchild Tyler Schiefen; his great-grandchild Maverick; siblings Marilyn Reese, Larry Ruden, Mark (Susie) Ruden and Mike Ruden; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; 2 siblings, Dale (Ann) Ruden and Carol (Dick) Weber; brother-in-law, Harold Reese; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Ruden; a niece, Cami Hoffman; and his life-long friend, Lloyd Holles.
Casket bearers will be Michael Ruden, Shanna Ruden, Clayton Lynch, Ashtyn Beller, Tyler Schiefen and Jessica Beller.
Honorary bearers will be Cody Franck, Maverick Beller, Ethan Lynch, Ella Ailts and Kaylee Ailts.
