Donald Anthony Loutsch, age 78 of Le Mars, IA, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024 at his home near Le Mars.

Memorial mass will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, July 6, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA with Rev. Timothy Pick officiating, Rev. Tim Hogan concelebrating and Deacon Doug Heeren assisting. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen. Graveside military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 220 and V.F. W. Post 3328 of Remsen. Visitation with family present will be 4-7 PM Friday, there will be a Rosary & Vigil Prayer Service at 5 PM at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Visitation will resume from 9:30-10:15 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. www.fischfh.com

Don was born Feb. 20, 1946 in Le Mars, IA the son of Gene & Mary C. (Arens) Loutsch. He was raised on a farm near Remsen and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Schools graduating in 1964. He then served in the US Air Force from Jan. 5, 1965 until Aug. 27, 1968 and served in Vietnam from Aug. 1967 to Aug. 1968.

On Nov. 15, 1969 he married Janet Bachmann at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, IA. The couple lived in Sioux City until 1975 where Don worked for UPS. In 1975 they purchased their own farm where they raised hogs, cattle and crops. He also drove truck part time for Arens Trucking. Don continued farming until 2023 when he had to retire due to his health.

Don was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and riding their motorcycle. He also enjoyed making their own sausage, dried beef and bacon with his family.

Survivors include his wife Janet of Le Mars, IA; his daughter, Laura (Dana) Honsbruch of Aurelia, IA, his son, Mark Loutsch of Aurelia, IA; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Kay Grunden of Remsen, IA. Pat (Mary) Loutsch of Remsen, IA, Tim (Val) Loutsch of Remsen, IA; In-laws, Kerry Loutsch of Kingsley, IA, Mary (Alv) Wolf of Henderson, NV, Tom (Brenda) Bachmann of Virginia, Joyce (Jack) Fuxa of Shenandoah, IA, Kim Bachmann of Sioux City, IA; numerous nieces & nephews.

Don was preceded by his parents; brother, Ken Loutsch; nephews, Wesley Loutsch & Matt Wolf; his father & mother-in-law, Robert & Joan Bachmann; brothers-in-law, James Grunden, Roger, Dennis & Christopher Bachmann; sister-in-law, Jeannie Theis.

Urn bearer will be his grandson Dallas Honsbruch.

Honorary bearers will be Josh Loutsch, Neal Loutsch, Ray Harpenau, Todd Henrich, Pete Staab, Dean Douvia, Ron Galles, Dan Jaminet, Bruce Graff, Joe Arens.
