Doris Frances (Schnepf) Arens, 92 years old, of Remsen, IA, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at Bavarian Meadows Assisted Living in Remsen, IA.
        Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating & Deacon Rick Roder officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Remsen.  Visitation will be anytime after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011.  There will be a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. all at the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, IA.  Condolences may be sent online to www.fischfh.com.
        Doris was born Sept. 14, 1919, at Remsen, IA, the daughter of Joseph & Anna (Goetzinger) Schnepf.  Doris was raised in the Oyens.  She graduated from St. Mary’s High School.  After graduation she worked for several families as a mother’s helper.  She traveled to Wichita, KS to support the war effort as a riveter.
        On April 3, 1943 she married Oswald Arens at   Oyens.  The couple lived in California for one year where Os was stationed with the army.  They returned to Remsen in 1945, and she helped him build a trucking business.  Os died April 4, 1989.
        Doris was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she was happy to be a lay minister for many years, she was member & past officer of the St. Mary’s guild & Catholic Daughters of America.  Doris was also a member of the Happy Siesta Auxillary.  She enjoyed playing cards, quilting and bowling.  She began the tradition of donating pies at St. Mary’s Church Auction. Everyone loved her baking.
        Survivors include; her six sons, Jim & his wife Judy, Joe & his wife Betty, Jerry & his wife Monica, Lou & his wife Peg, Rob & his wife Pam all of Remsen, Phil & his wife LeAnn of LeMars, IA; one daughter, Ann McManus & her husband Dan of Dakota Dunes, SD; Several grandchildren & great-grandchildren; one brother, Milo Schnepf in Fairbault, MN, two sisters, Hildegard Cerveny of Cedar Rapids, IA & JoAnn Reinert of Harlingen , TX; one sister-in-law, Marie Schnepf of Oyens, IA.
        Preceded by: her parents, two brothers, Robert Schnepf, William Schnepf & his wife Bernice, two sisters-in-law, Helen Schnepf & Arlene Schnepf, two brothers-in-law, Harold Cerveny & Herman Reinert, one daughter-in-law, Judy Arens.
        Casket Bearers will be: Greg, Chris, Jeff, Matt & Tyler Arens & Cliff Collins.
