Evelyn A. Miller

December 8, 1914 — August 21, 2014

Evelyn Miller, 99 years old, of Remsen and formerly of Sioux City, IA, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, IA.

            Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating.  Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, IA.  Visitation will be any time after 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 25, 2014.  There will be a parish rosary at 6 p.m. & a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.

            Evelyn was born Dec. 8, 1914, at Lismore, MN, the daughter of & Peter & Lillian (Konz) Wolf.  Evelyn later moved with her parents to Remsen, IA where they farmed south of town.  Evelyn attended rural school in Henry Township.

            On Nov. 9, 1932 she married Sylvester “Shorty” Miller. They lived their entire life in Sioux City.  She was as accomplished seamstress and made many wedding dresses.  Shorty died Sept. 11, 1994.

            Evelyn was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Sioux City prior to moving to Bavarian Meadows Assisted Living in Remsen Aug. 2010.  In July 2014 she moved to Happy Siesta Health Care Center.  She was presently a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen.

Survivors include: three grandchildren, Chris (Nora) Miller of Grand Rapids, MI, Andy (Marina) Miller of Denver, CO, Valerie Morgan of Virginia Beach, VA; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd (Phyllis) Wolf of Remsen; one sister-in-law, Arlene Wolf of Remsen; numerous nieces and nephews.

            Preceded by: her parents, her son, Harold and his wife Phyllis; one great-granddaughter, Amy Miller, one sister, Mercedes (Donald) Kilker, one brother, James (Margaretta) Wolf, one niece, Nancy Wolf.

            Casket bearers will be Bill Wolf, Shaun Wolf, Chris Miller, Dennis Wolf, Christine Wolf, Jane Bunkers.
